The NRLD Purposes and History
NRLD was designed to allow contributors outside the original group and to encourage discussion from the scientific community. The data are intended to be presented in forms that can be referenced by peer reviewed publications. The concept of the NRLD was initially conceived as part of a smaller project led by Eric Hunter and Scott Thomson in 2006.
The National Repository for Laryngeal Data (NRLD) is hosted by the Voice Biomechanics and Acoustics Laboratory (VBAL) led by Eric Hunter at Michigan State University.
Founding Investigators
The NRLD was originally created as part of a project entitled “Influence of Subglottic Anatomy on Voice Production.” This project, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIDCD R01-DC009616), was led by Dr. Scott Thomson, in collaboration with Drs. Eric Hunter (Michigan State University), Marshall Smith (University of Utah) and and Susan Thibeault (University of Wisconsin).
